Welcome to Larry Drake's Rett Syndrome Fundraising Page

On Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 I am participating in a one-day, 125-mile bicycle ride from Biloxi, Mississippi to Pensacola, Florida through 3 states in support of my Cyclomaniac friend KC Byers. His daughter Katelyn has Rett syndrome. KC completed a Rett Ride Across America (RRAA) in 2018– a cycling ride from California to Florida (from coast to coast). The goal was to raise awareness and funds which are used directly to support finding a cure for Rett syndrome. He then continued the event in 2019 by riding from Mississippi to Florida and will do so again this year in 2020. The money raised allows essential research of effective treatments and a cure for Rett syndrome to continue. I am happy to join him on his journey again this year.
Rett syndrome is a rare neurological disorder which becomes apparent in infancy or early childhood. It occurs in 1 in 10,000 births and primarily affects females, though it can occur in boys. The children develop normally for the first 6 to 18 months and then begin to regress – or lose acquired skills. Rett syndrome causes changes in the brain that lead to lifelong impairments, including inability to speak, seizures, scoliosis and breathing difficulties. More than half of those affected lose the ability to walk. Most require maximum assistance with basic daily activities.
Your donation will help fund important research and critical family support. This cause is very important to me and I appreciate your help as we fight for a cure for Rett syndrome!
Please join me for a portion of the ride or please donate in support of my efforts to help Rettsyndrome.org in finding a cure for this horrible disease! Please see past any differences and help those that really can’t help themselves, that aren’t as blessed as you and me.
Please consider donating any amount; $5, $10, $25, etc., or do a matching gift such as $1 or $2 per mile. ANY amount will help! Please help me by sharing this page. Together we accomplish more! Your help is our hope!
