2020 Rett Ride Across America

Team Katelyn

We have decided to suit up to join in the Rett Ride Across America. Rett Ride Across America is a 2,338 mile, cross-country bike ride along Interstate 10, the southernmost interstate highway in America, during the month of October 2018.  Inspired and led by KC Byer, a father of a daughter with Rett syndrome, Rett Ride Across America proves to be a daunting physical challenge but a major accomplishment for its riders to raise both research funds and awareness for RettSyndrome.org

Though the atmosphere will be fun and festive, the purpose behind the even could not be more serious. The money raised will allow essential research of effective treatments and a cure for Rett syndrome to continue.
Rett syndrome is a rare neurological disorder which becomes apparent in infancy or early childhood. It occurs in 1 in 10,000 births and primarily affects females, though it can occur in boys.  The children develop normally for the first 6-18 months and then begin to regress – or lose acquired skills. Rett syndrome causes changes in the brain that lead to lifelong impairments, including inability to speak, seizures, scoliosis and breathing difficulties.  More than half of those affected lose the ability to walk. Most require maximum assistance with basic daily activities.

Your donation will help fund important research and critical family support. This cause is very important to us and we appreciate your help as we fight for a cure for Rett syndrome!

Please join our team or donate to our efforts to support Rettsyndrome.org in finding a cure!
