TEAM SHAYNA
On October 23, 2021, Dean and I are walking in the Rettsyndrome.org Strollathon which is their signature fundraising and awareness event to raise money for essential research of effective treatments and to find a cure for Rett syndrome. This casual stroll will be around a track so there is no need to walk any longer than you want or are able to; you can get off the track at any time. You don't even need to walk, just having a team there to support Shayna would be great! Since Shayna lives in Dallas, she won't be there in person, but she will definitely be there in spirit!
As most of you already know, Rett syndrome is a genetic neurological disorder occurring almost exclusively in females and becoming apparent after 6-18 months of early normal development. The resulting regression leads to lifelong impairments, including lost speech, seizures, scoliosis, irregular breathing patterns, and more than half of the children and women lose the ability to walk. Those diagnosed with Rett syndrome require maximum assistance with basic daily activities.
Please join us in the Strollathon and / or donate to our efforts to support Rettsyndrome.org in finding a cure. Your donation will help fund important research and family support. This cause is very important to us and we appreciate your help as we fight for a cure for Rett syndrome!
Your help is our hope!
