We are happy to have you all be a part of Team Emmazing. We hope that you are all staying safe and healthy during these difficult times. Due to Covid-19, the Rett Strollathon will be virtual this year. Stay tuned for additional details for the virtual walk for Team Emmazing.
Emma has had an exciting year so far. We recently moved and settled into a new home in Indiana. Emma loves being so close to family and enjoys visitors stopping in to say hello. She is continuing to show great progress with the help of our wonderful therapists at the Cincinnati Children's Perlman Center. She has been exceling tremendously with the eye gaze speech device. This is a device that will allow Emma to use her eyes to communicate with her family and friends.
As many of you know, Emma was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome on May 08, 2019. Rett syndrome is a genetic neurological disorder occurring almost exclusively in females and becoming apparent after 6-18 months of early normal development. The resulting regression leads to lifelong impairments, including lost speech, seizures, scoliosis, irregular breathing patterns, and more than half of the children and women lose the ability to walk. Those diagnosed with Rett syndrome require maximum assistance with basic daily activities.
We hope that you can join our team this year for the virtual walk in support of this great cause. If you are unable to participate in the walk, please consider a donation in support of our sweet daughter Emma.
Your donation will help fund important research and family support. This cause is very important to me and we appreciate your help as we fight for a cure for Rett syndrome!
