For the fourth year in a row, we are attending the Cure Rett Iowa Strollathon and Auction in support of Alia Curtis, our daughter/ niece/ sister/ neighbor/ friend, who was diagnosed with Rett syndrome at the age of 2.
Rett syndrome is a genetic neurological disorder occurring almost exclusively in females and becoming apparent after 6-18 months of early normal development. The resulting regression leads to lifelong impairments, including lost speech, seizures, scoliosis, irregular breathing patterns, and more than half of the children and women lose the ability to walk. Those diagnosed with Rett syndrome require maximum assistance with basic daily activities.
The 2020 event will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Kinzler Construction in Ankeny, IA. This event, Rettsyndrome.org’s signature fundraising and awareness event, raises money for essential research of effective treatments and to find a cure for Rett syndrome. This casual event has a fun and energetic festival atmosphere, and this year we're excited for the 'Follow the yellow brick road' theme ! As always, there will again be live music, delicious food, plus a silent and live auction.
Monetary donations can be made right on this page - just select Donate and follow the prompts.
We are also accepting silent auction donations. If you would like to sign up to put together an auction package, visit www.CureRettIowa and select Auction.
Each year we are more and more humbled by the support we receive for this event. Your donation will help fund important research and family support, not just for Alia but for all children impacted by Rett syndrome.
Your support fuels our hope.
