Leah's Little Angels
Leah is getting excited for her 4th strollathon this year! It has been a crazy year but a fun one! She is continuing to amaze us and everyone she meets with her communication on the Tobii eye gaze device. We spent a lot of quarantine reading books on our Tobii, playing outside with our best friends from our neighborhood, and swimming in the pool! Leah loves school and her teacher, Miss Courtney, more than just about anything in the world. The end of the school year was a little tough, but we got used to her asking us for Zoom hangouts almost daily! She is adjusting to her crazy 16 month old sister, Hannah, running around and playing with her toys. She is starting to warm up to Hannah the more she delivers her ipad for movie watching and tries to feed her extra bites. Leah has been in a natural history study since she was diagnosed, but we were excited to be enrolled in her first drug trial this past year and it has been pretty awesome so far! We can't believe how fast she is growing and how many opportunities she has with our local Rett clinic, and it is in large part, because of all of your donations to help Leah and other girls with Rett syndrome! So thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Rett syndrome is a genetic neurological disorder occurring almost exclusively in females and becoming apparent after 6-18 months of early normal development. The resulting regression leads to lifelong impairments, including lost speech, seizures, scoliosis, irregular breathing patterns, and more than half of the children and women lose the ability to walk. Those diagnosed with Rett syndrome require maximum assistance with basic daily activities.
Your donation will help fund important research and family support. This cause is very important to me and I appreciate your help as we fight for a cure for Rett syndrome!
Please join me or donate to my efforts to support Rettsyndrome.org in finding a cure! Your help is our hope!
