The Kinzler family and Kinzler Construction Services are proud supporters of Iowa's Strollathon to raise money for Rett Syndrome Research. Kevin & Yvonne Kinzler's daughter, Lacey, was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome just before her second birthday, 34 years ago.
The Strollathon, Rettsyndrome.org’s signature fundraising and awareness event, is to raise money for essential research of effective treatments and to find a cure for Rett syndrome. This casual stroll has a fun and energetic festival atmosphere for adults and children. This year's theme is Follow The Yellow Brick Road representing the individual paths Rett families have taken to get where they are today and the paths that await us in the future.
Rett syndrome is a genetic neurological disorder occurring almost exclusively in females and becoming apparent after 6-18 months of early normal development. The resulting regression leads to lifelong impairments, including lost speech, seizures, scoliosis, irregular breathing patterns, and more than half of the children lose the ability to walk. Those diagnosed with Rett syndrome require maximum assistance with basic daily activities.
Researchers are now in a place of great understanding of Rett Syndrome, moving to developing treatments . We're seeing many successes but with each success comes an even greater need for funding.
The time is now, we can't stop the forward progress! Please join us and donate to our efforts to continue the path to treatments and a cure for Rett Syndrome.
